Owen Evans Just4keepers student

Owen joined just4keepers a couple of months ago after sadly being released by Swansea City. He came to us wanting to improve his goalkeeping talent and prove a point to the club that released him. 

 Owen started kicking a ball around at 18 months old, Owens later passion for goalkeeping came from following in his fathers footsteps who was also a goalkeeper. When he was 6 his father was asked to lead an under 7s team at Crumlin where he built a successful team with Owen staring in goal. As a huge spurs fan Owen's parents used to regularly take him to goalkeeping holiday schools at White Heart Lane.


After playing in a tournament at Risca, The big boys came calling when Cardiff City approached him, but before Cardiff could seal a deal, Swansea came in and he signed for their centre of excellence. At this time Owen was also playing for the Caerphilly under 8's academy.


Swansea took him for a 6 week trial before later signing him from under 9's till under 14's. During his time at Swansea Owen has played all over the UK, playing against teams such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Bristol, Southampton, Plymouth to name but a few.

He also was selected for the Welsh regional squad training but unfortunately didn't progress to the camps. After being released by Swansea, he's now been  selected for Merthyr Town trails and Caerphilly schoolboys and he is also waiting to hear back from Swindon Town after recently impressing at a trail day.


It is plain to see that Owen has a great deal of talent for goalkeeping, and we hope to develop this talent further and hopefully Owen can develop into a great goalkeeper.  

Ben Foster joins Albion

Foster has completed his loan move to West Brom on Friday with Boaz Myhill moving in the opposite direction. Foster made his baggies debut yesterday in a friendly against Bristol city, where he managed to keep a clean sheet as his new side won 1-0 with a late winner.

The Blues were looking to offload the ex Man utd shot stopper so they could get the £1.5 million a year earner off their books.

Last season Foster helped Blues win the Carling Cup with a man-of-the-match performance at Wembley and he was also given the player-of-the-year award after starting every Premier League game.

Why is foot work so important for goalkeepers??

Many goalkeepers are excellent shot stoppers and very good at other areas of goalkeeping but their foot work lets them down.. This is such an important element of goalkeeping and can be the difference between being a good goalkeeper and a fantastic goalkeeper!!

So why is footwork so important for goalkeepers??.......... It is simple.............the faster you can move your feet, the faster you can move around your goal! and the faster you can move around your goal, the more chance you give yourself in making a fantastic 'camera' save. ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

This is why at Just4keepers we build important footwork exercises into all of our sessions to give our students every chance of improving and mastering their footwork.

Who is the best keeper in the Premiership at the moment??

I want you views on the best keeper in the league at the moment? who do you think is best?? Personally I am looking forward to seeing David de Gea in action for Man Utd.

For me the most consistant goalkeeper in the league is Jussi Jaaskelainen.
